Cedar Park Wrestling

I'm interested in wrestling is there a program for me?
Yes, our program is devoted to helping youth wrestlers from elementary to middle school improve in the sport, whether this is your first year or they are advanced wrestlers.

Does my child need experience?
No, our practices will focus on the fundamental skills of the sport, but will also provide opportunities for the advanced athlete to excel.

When is the best time to start?
The best time for new wrestlers is at the beginning of one of our cycles either during the Fall preseason, Winter Folkstyle season or our Spring Olympic Style (Freestyle/Greco-Roman) season. If you have some wrestling experience anytime is a good time.

Who can wrestle on the Cedar Park Wrestling Club?
Any student in grades Middle School to Elementary, this includes boys and girls, big or small.

When and how do we register?
Registration for our Fall preseason program begins in late July or early August, with wrestling beginning, September. Winter Folkstyle season registration will start in late September, with practice starting in November. Our Spring Olympic Style (Freestyle/Greco-Roman) season registration will open late January to early February. On the top right of the website,, you will see the "register" button. You will be asked to open a parent account and then it will walk you through the process to register your wrestler.

Why do wrestlers need a USA Wrestling Athlete Membership?
USA Wrestling, the organization that regulates all wrestling in the United States, requires that all wrestlers purchase a USA Wrestling Card Membership (purchased once per year Sept to Aug 31) before participating in any USA Wrestling sanctioned events, including club practices, camps, clinics, etc. This membership is for the protection of everyone involved and provides secondary insurance to those with the membership. (

When and where do we practice?
Practices are held at the Cedar Park High School wrestling room, please see the "CALENDAR" tab for our practice schedule. Wrestlers wanting to reach the next level of wrestling are highly encouraged to attend as all weekly training sessions.

You can find wrestling shoes at Academy, Dicks Sporting Goods, on-line at Eastbay, Amazon,, and plus a number of other on-line options. What is your refund policy?
Refunds requested in writing prior to the start of the first practice will be in it's entirety minus $25.00 processing fee, no refunds once practice has started.

Is it required for my child to participate in every practice?
While we encourage wrestlers to participate in as many practice as your family schedule allows. We are flexible and understand conflicts exist. Wrestlers are strongly encouraged to attend a minimum of two practices a week.

My child is a beginner; do they need to compete in tournaments?
No, we encourage the new wrestlers to spend the first year in the gym training and acclimating, building a strong wrestling foundation. For high aptitude/highly engaged new wrestlers they can compete in tournaments, this is at the discretion of the wrestler and their family. Middle school wrestlers planning on wrestling in high school we encourage them to compete but this is still to the discretion of the wrestler and their family. In all tournaments wrestlers will be matched up against other based on experience, weight and age.

When and where do we compete?
We are in the "Texas Central Region", local tournaments will be throughout the region depending on the host club. Each tournament requires a registration fee to compete (usually $15-$20 for local and $30-$50 for national events). For wrestler seeking greater competition, during the folkstyle season there will be five National tournaments in Texas, more throughout the US. We will provide information on additional tournaments for wrestlers choosing to participate in if they wish.

Do you offer a trial class?
Yes, if you would you can have your child participate in a practice to get a good idea of what they can expect.  We do require our registration paper work to be filled out and a waiver to be signed.

Do you allow parents to view classes?
Yes, space for parents is very limited but we do allow them in the practices room.  We do however ask that parents refrain from interacting with their kids during the class to minimize distractions.
